ODY CAGES - ANY MEMBER WEARING A BODY CAGE TO ANY OF OUR EVENTS (OR OTHER BRANCHES) MUST ADVISE THE ORGANISER IN ADVANCE THAT THEY ARE WEARING A BODY CAGE AND LODGE THEIR KEY WITH THE ORGANISER PRIOR TO RIDING.
Rallies
When you get to the Rally, you will be placed in a “ride”. Your ride is the group of children with whom you will be sharing an instructor. Most Rallies start with a tack inspection – so make sure that your tack it is in good condition before you go!
We organise Working Rallies for our Members and they are either mounted rallies where you take your pony or horse or “unmounted,” where you go on foot.
Rallies are the best way to improve your riding and to learn how to look after your pony. You will learn lots of new skills and have the opportunity to take tests, for which special certificates and badges are awarded.
Pony Club Members, who wish to represent their Branch in competitions, must go to at least three working rallies a year.
Dressage

PERCY HUNT PC & PONY RACING - NEWS......
Pony Racing is fantastic!!! Please don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity if you have interested children.....as with anything to do with racing, it is all very well organised and a wonderful experience.....
Don't be put off by thinking that everyone has flash racing ponies and that there are too many regulations and it is difficult to get involved...or that it will ruin your pony....nonsense!!..Happily on the northern circuit, ponies & children come in all shapes and sizes..the majority of ponies are chilled about it... and it doesn't matter if you don't win...being in the paddock, at the start, racing to the finish, having your photos taken with all the other jockeys after the race, is all part of a great day out!
To race, the only stipulations are that children are aged between 9 and 15 and ponies between 5-20 years & 138 (13.2) & under or 148 (14.2) & under...then all you have to do is....
- pay the £20 annual membership to the Pony Racing Authority -www.pra.gb.com
- obtain an annual registration certificate for your pony from the Pony Racing Authority by filling in a form.
- attend 4 PC rallies since 01 August 2009 or 4 days hunting together and ask our DC or Hunt Secretary/MFH to sign the form.
- Enter the Point to Point - £15 fee.
Simple! And great fun!!! And then if you are placed in a Point to Point or PC Race Day, you qualify to compete on a Racecourse - involved in an actual race meeting, kicking off with Kelso on Sunday 11th April...with meetings throughout the summer, culminating in the final at Cheltenham on 16th October (see the PRA website for the full list of Point to Points and Racecourses).
But the best is yet to come....Pony Racing Camp. This was the highlight for Anna. After five days at The Northern Racing College last August Anna came home exhausted but having had the time of her life. The facilities and instructors were brilliant. For more information contact zoe.horne@northernracingcollege.co.uk for dates in August this year - book early, it will fill up quickly. Yes, okay it's in Doncaster, 3 hours down the A1, but worth it! (the only other Pony Racing Camp in the country is at Newmarket at the British Racing School which is a lot further!)
Finally, if you need any help getting started in pony racing, then please send an e-mail or pick up the phone. Boo

Polocrosse
Polocrosse is a fantastic sport played on horseback over a field roughly the same size as a rugby pitch. Two teams of 6 players play alternative 'Chukkas' in Sections of 3 players per side, which allows the horses time to rest between their playing chukkas. This permits the use of only one horse (in fact the rules only allow you to play one horse !).
We are training this spring at Ratcheugh and Harry Chrisp has kindly offered to coordinate the training. Contact Harry on 01665 577243 or 077118282354 or email harrychrisp@enterprise.net
